BiomeFx - Gut Microbiome Test

The human gut harbors 100 trillion microorganisms including bacteria, yeast, fungi, and other microbes. This diverse ecosystem influences everything from immune function and digestion to emotional well-being and so much more. The gut microbiome is a community—each microbe completes important tasks that contribute to the welfare of the whole. Some microbes metabolize foods and pass on the metabolites to other species. Other members maintain a healthy gut pH, support the host’s immune system, support food metabolism, or maintain the gut barrier. Even opportunistic species play an important role when present in small amounts!

When biodiversity in the gut is lost or when species are out of balance, the whole microbial community is affected. This creates a cascading effect that can manifest itself in seemingly unrelated areas of the body.

BiomeFx™ offers a clearer picture of the status of the gut microbiome. Using this unique reporting system, your dietitian can:

✔️ Understand the functions of the gut microbiome
✔️ Identify dysbiosis ratios
✔️ Pinpoint which metabolites are overproduced or underproduced
✔️ Support specific gut functions using nourishing dietary practices, supplement protocols, and lifestyle recommendations
✔️ Help patients lead healthier lives!

CosmosID® is a gene sequencing laboratory that holds the world's largest database of microbial genomes. They are an industry leader in Whole Genome Sequencing—a cutting-edge technology that allows us to quantify the abundance of each microbial species rather than simply the presence or absence of each species. This gene sequencing technology has 99.9% specificity and 95.7% sensitivity

BiomeFx - Vaginal Microbiome Test

The vaginal microbiome (VMB) is a dynamic ecosystem whose primary function is to keep the vagina acidic. Unlike the gut microbiome, the vagina thrives on low microbial diversity and Lactobacilli dominance. Lactobacilli, as the name implies, are a genus of bacteria who produce lactic acid which keeps unwanted microbes at bay. Disruptions in the vaginal microbiome are common and can lead to an increase of unwanted microbes.

Rebalancing the vaginal microbiome requires an individualized approach that starts with knowing the current composition of the vaginal ecosystem!

The BiomeFx Functional Vaginal Microbiome Analysis identifies the abundance of numerous microorganisms. It gives healthcare providers a roadmap for decision-making with a comprehensive report that includes nutrition, lifestyle, and supplement recommendations.

This simple at-home test shows practitioners the abundance of:
✔️ All Lactobacillus species, including the 4 most dominant species

✔️ 26 opportunistic bacteria

✔️ Candida

Like the Microbiome stool test, the BiomeFx Vaginal Microbiome Analysis is powered by CosmosID, an industry leader in Whole Genome Sequencing. This cutting-edge technology is highly accurate and precise, allowing for 99.9% specificity and 95.7% sensitivity. Using these important biomarkers provides a valuable guide to pinpoint early disruptions, supporting the prevention of further dysbiosis and potentially avoiding the use of harsh interventions.

Stool Analyses

For persistent food sensitivities and treatment resistant digestive disorders, we may prescribe a comprehensive stool analyses to rule out intestinal parasites and candida, both of which can be treated with both traditional and herbal remedies.

Many of us have heard about parasites in humans such as giardia or amoebas, but we tend to overlook the relationship between these parasites and digestive and systemic diseases and disorders. The common belief that people in the US are free of parasites is a great illusion. Some estimate that about 50 million American children are infected with worm parasites; only a small portion of which is detected and reported. This is particularly worrisome when one recognizes that microscopic (single-celled protozoans), make up about 90% of all parasitic infections in the US according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If existing parasitic infections are evenly distributed, there would be more than enough parasites for every living person to have one. Additionally, the parasite and ova stool test offered through most labs in NY only include the 5 most common parasites, which overlooks the many others that cause digestive and systemic distress.

Comprehensive Stool Analysis:

This provides a detailed analysis of all intestinal parasites (Protozoa, Trematodes,Tapeworms, Nematodes) from all 7 continents as well as other intestinal organisms including Candida, yeast, and other fungi. Analysis of bio-indicators such as red and white blood cells, mucus, fatty acid crystals, starch granules, undigested tissue, beneficial bacteria, epithelial cells, pollen, and charcot-leyden crystals are also included.

Full GI Panel:

Our Full GI Panel consists of our Comprehensive Stool Analysis (CSA) and our Swab Culture. The combination of these two tests provides full coverage screening of all intestinal pathogens and is recommended for anyone experiencing GI symptoms. The CSA provides a detailed analysis of all intestinal parasites (Protozoa, Trematodes, Tapeworms, Nematodes) from all 7 continents as well as other intestinal organisms including Candida, yeast, and other fungi. Analysis of bio-indicators such as red and white blood cells, mucus, fatty acid crystals, starch granules, undigested tissue, beneficial bacteria, epithelial cells, pollen, and charcot-leyden crystals is also included. Swabs are taken for culturing and analysis of bacterial and fungal infections. Sensitivity and resistance results as well as quantification of positive findings indicating intensity of infection are also included. The Swab Culture can be used for culturing stool, skin, urine, or any other body parts or secretions, blood can not be cultured. This test is highly recommended for patients with GI symptoms who have had negative stool tests for parasites, as the symptoms for pathogenic bacteria are very similar to those of parasitic infections. Testing package is included. Both the swab and the CSA components of this test must be sent in at the same time or individual prices for the tests will be charged.

H. Pylori Analysis:

Helicobacter pylori is a bacterial infection associated with chronic stomach inflammation which can significantly increase the risk of ulcer formation. This stool test is a non-invasive way to detect the bacteria. It's convenience and accuracy make it the preferred method of detection. Testing package is included.
