Jenny Arnette, MS, RDN, CDN

It is an absolute honor to be advancing my functional nutrition practice as a board certified Registered Dietitian at Buffalo Nutrition & Dietetics, PLLC. I am a D’Youville College graduate with a combined Bachelor and Master of Science Degree in Dietetics. I am certified in Integrative and Functional Nutrition through the credentialing board for dietitians, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

I have a deep passion for using Medical Nutrition Therapy for the prevention, management, and healing of chronic disease including but not limited to obesity, Celiac disease, allergies, Lyme disease, and patients who suffer from myotoxicity due to prolonged toxigenic mold exposure.

Over the course of the past two years, I have fulfilled over 1200 hours of dietetic internship, using medical nutrition therapy in a variety of areas including gastroenterology, weight management, counseling, research, acute care, critical care, and pediatrics. I had the privilege of completing my counseling and specialty rotations through the weight management clinics of both Buffalo General Hospital and Erie County Medical Center of Buffalo, New York. These combined experiences provided me the opportunity to work directly with adults suffering from various degrees of obesity as well as weight loss resistance syndrome. I also had the privilege of studying the deep connection and treatment between diet, trauma, and behavioral patterns and their effect on physical as well as mental health.

I had the pleasure of completing my Pediatric nutrition rotation at John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and the UBMD Pediatric Gastroenterology clinic where I worked closely with children and families in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. I routinely provided medical nutrition therapy and support to children with gastrointestinal disorders, food allergies, Diabetes Mellitus Type I and Type II, Celiac disease, as well as metabolic and genetic disorders.

While my love and passion for nutrition, athletics and wellness initially inspired me to pursue the field of Nutrition and Dietetics, it was my personal health journey that opened my mind and fueled my passion for Integrative and Functional Medicine. In addition to having Celiac disease I have also had acute Lyme Disease and myotoxicity from prolonged toxigenic mold exposure. Integrative and Functional Nutrition and Medicine not only saved my life but opened my eyes to the healing power of addressing the true root of a diagnosis vs only the symptoms. It is my pleasure that through Integrative and Functional Nutrition, I am able to use food as medicine to nutritionally manage and improve conditions such as: food allergies/sensitivities/intolerances, anxiety and depression as well as toxin accumulation disorders such as myotoxicity, Lyme disease, environmental/heavy metal toxicity, and fungal/bacterial overgrowth toxicity.

I have a deep passion and empathy for working with patients who suffer from overweight, obesity, and/or weight loss resistance syndrome. I believe in a balanced approach to nutrition vs temporary or indefinite restriction. Longitudinal research has proven that fad diets may cause greater weight gain long-term whereas a balanced approach to nutrition provides sustained weight loss. I strive to provide my patients with the tools to maintain weight loss which in turn can also improve energy levels, immune function, sleep quality and mental health.

Every patient is wonderfully unique and I recognize that even those with a similar diagnosis will have different experiences, environments and therefore needs. I seek to motivate and help implement a tailored balance to nutrition for each and every patient. I have been humbled by my medical journey and am absolutely honored that I get to illuminate the path and support my patients on their own journey of preventing, managing, and healing from chronic disease.
