DENT Neurologic Institute Collaboration

Our group has partnered with Dent Neurologic Institute's Functional Medicine Clinic and their Integrative Program for Cognitive Decline. We provide evidenced based regenerative nutrition therapy for Cognitive Decline and Alzheimer's disease, in collaboration with Dent's outstanding functional medicine team led by Laura Funke, FNP, IFMCP. Laura is advanced certified in Functional Medicine by the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). We see patients of the clinic at all 5 of our locations, including our 2 Dent locations at the Dent Tower (Amherst) and Sterling Medical Center (Orchard Park) where the clinic is located.

In Dent Tower, we are located in suite 401 alongside Dr. Jeffrey I Goldberg, DDS, PLLC. We are extremely fortunate to collaborate with his practice in addition to our work with the Functional Medicine Clinic.

Dr. Goldberg's Orofacial Pain/TMJ program at Dent is one of only a few programs in the nation to be accredited by the American Dental Association. He is a board certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, and the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. Dr. Goldberg serves on the board of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain and as President of the Erie County Dental Society.

Dr. Goldberg offers treatment for sleep apnea, chronic facial pain, and jaw dysfunction/TMJ using state of the art treatment modalities. These conditions left untreated can lead to poor nutrition and decreased metabolism. Untreated sleep apnea has been shown to cause resistance to weight loss and increased risk for chronic diseases including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, obesity, and dementia. These carry with them the strong need for Medical Nutrition Therapy, with food as medicine, provided by our Registered Dietitians.

Our experienced dietitian at this location, Noelle Citarella (DeSantis), MS, RDN, CDN, will create a custom nutrition plan for these patients, built to reduce inflammation, pain, and muscle loss of the jaw using functional nutrition therapy. The practice is also joined by Dr. Kristy Frye, Physical Therapist and Vice President of Advanced Care Physical Therapy. She specializes in treatment of the neck, head, and facial pain, as well as spine, and extremity rehabilitation.

As health care professionals who embrace healing and prevention through an integrative and functional approach, we are overjoyed to be working alongside these providers and their programs that offer personalized treatment via conservative and effective measures.
